My daily driver project (touring content!)

I just picked up this 1988 318i touring for my winter/daily driver for $450.

iPhone Photos (better ones will come this weekend)

It's currently got some issues: (this is all I've seen so far, I've only had the car for a few hours)
    - Speedo /Odometer doesn't work. (FIXED)
    - Inspection/Oil Light on (FIXED)
    - Power mirrors don't work.
    - Driver side seat has a rip.
    - 2 different style hub caps.
    - Tint pealing in the rear.
    - Burnt out front turn signal
    - Burnt out rear fog light

What "mods" I've got planned: (maybe)
    - replace the seats
    - basketweaves or borbet type a's
    - IS lip? (if i can find one for mad cheap)
    - I have a HID kit laying around, I might toss that in there.
    - possibly a roof rack.
    - ebay chip?!?

The goal is really just to have something comfortable to drive while the M3 hibernates. I don't want to spend too much cash on the project. Maybe 500 bucks. I'd appreciate any comments/ideas ya all have for me!

I hate you. I hate every inch of your "oh yeah I just went out and picked up a nice e30 touring for 400 bucks" existence. Just so you know. Ahem.

Nice find, I bet she'll make a great winter beater. :)

Aw come on. If it makes ya feel any better, I only get to enjoy it for 7 months. I'm headed back to the US for good so no more cheap e30's for me.

We fixed the speedometer/odometer today. I also used my Peake Service Light Reset Tool to reset all of the inspection/oil lights.

I noticed one of my rear fog lights is out, as well as the front passenger side turn signal. Should be a quick fix and have the simple things fixed.

How much would it be to ship it over here and your not going to take it with you?

How did you fix the speedometer/odometer?

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

Has to have it redone to US standards. So it ends up costing a lot usually.

Damn you alex, that's freaking sweet.

I'll throw it on a lift soon and check it all out. It sounds like it might have some soft/bad bushings. I know one of the tie rods was replaced a few days ago though, so the rest should be good.

It would have to be made to US specs. It wouldn't be worth the money. Just a guess, maybe 8K+. Its not in THAT good of condition that I'd be willing to take it home.

                          Nope. Just the M3.
