Gonna be a while for updates guys, gave the car to my son for his birthday,

He was so stoked. He didnt have a clue,

Day from hell as well, I had trouble at work, we are moving across country so there is alot going on, His mom was working out of town so he went to sushi with his cousin.

The car beat me all day for some reason, Battery was dead then I decided to do the front wheel bearings. OMG was it a hard job, so I didnt get out of the shop till late and phone would not stop ringing etc etc

He couldnt belive it, all the hard work was worth it. He loved the car and even fell asleep in it that night.LOL

So we have now moved to Nashville, Tn and our son is finishing the year at school before coming in the summer.

I have just bought a 318is that is gonna get some work. This time its for me

This will Vert will be an on going project for us but I will keep this thread updated when we do stuff.

The motor was basically good and pulled well (when I drove it) so I thought I would start with a good overhaul and see where its at. i ordered.

        Spark plugs
        Rotor arm
        Rotor cap
        fuel filter
        air filter
        fuel filter
valve cover gasket (valve adjustment needed.)
        Exhaust clamp gaskets (leaking)

This will get it up and running to see where we are at with the car. I dont want to go too far until I know that the motor is basically gonna last him a while.
with no records of a timing belt or water pump change its a time bomb. with the radiator out replacing the belt and pump would have been cake.

          Yeah,

I just didnt add that, I did the belts at the same time, I have done so much on this car I forget or just plain dont write every thing I do.

I am sure that it will have an M50 in it before to long. I am going to do my first 24V conv on my 318is. Car is bought and I have the donor car for the swap and most of the parts now, just gotta find some time.

You know what, thinkin about it looking at your post I didnt do the water pump !!!!

            Good one,

The motor is suprisingly strong though !!! So I may make him keep it.

Milage is totally unknown though ODO stopped at 198k

check the southeast section up on the regional portion, theres a southeast "rally" in june and vitage at the vineyards (in eastern NC) in late may

btw, didnt read the whole thing just the first page, but my first car was my vert, nice to see you did it right and spent the money it needed. btw i have the eibachs and billies on mine as well and my advertised drop from when i got them was 1.6 up front and .9 in rear

quick edit: i have done the convertible top job as well, not the most fun in the world, why did you take the frame out of the car?

wow ur such a boss dad! my parents also got me an E30 for my first car...unlike ur kid my parents are making me pay for any additional non-essential modifications! only thing i've done so far is swap out the wheels and painted the tail lights red. very nice project really motivated me to go work on my car. hope ur 318is turns out awesome as well.

Thought I would bring this back from the dead. Trailered the car out from cali to tennessee. Gonna snap some pics in the next day or so. Gonna get started on the next phase of the game.
