I have one of those anti-theft radio stickers on my car. I'll post a pic when I get a chance tomorrow. I think mine is a bit different than yours though.

now all you need is a 24 year old dealership that you can pretend to purchase your car from :)

Here we go. OEM M-technic I Front Spoiler. Kind of beat up, but to be expected from a 23-year-old part. It will be going to the body shop, and then the paint shop. But first, I need to pay for the entire mounting kit I ordered from Germany. It all arrived yesterday but I can't pick it up yet because I'm shit broke. But, if you look at the OEM diagram,

you can see the two little pieces that act as a splitter. Neither were in the US, but there was 26 left in Germany of the right side, and 1 (yes, one) left in Germany for the left side. Lucky for me, I got that last one. So the entire mounting kit including the sticker is here for me, I just need to get the money.
Enough talk, here are the pics:

Notice how each hole is not just a hole, but is moulded back. That's how you know it's OEM. Some replicas are moulded back, but very rarely do the aftermarket companies go that far.

The fog light holes will be cut while at the body shop. All M-tech 1 front spoilers came with all the holes filled in. If the car had fog lights, those holes were cut. If it had an oil cooler, the two bottom center holes were cut, if it had A/C, the top two center holes were cut.

Notice, the fog light brackets are moulded in, watch for the moulding on replicas. The replicas don't have any moulding to add foglights... or at least the majority of them don't.

          Here's a "test fit"

          You get the general idea.
This is the true telltale that will never fail. The Stamp with the Roundel on it tells it's OEM.

The bottom characters on the stamp are the part number, which is:
          51 11 1 929 559
Metzeler is the supplier of the Urethane. I'm shooting to get this to the bodyshop, to the paint shop, and on my car, but August 14th. I'm taking my car to the West Coast Summer Concours so hopefully i'll have it on so I don't have to display my god awful pitted-to-shit US valence.

Some good info that will hopefully help stop people claiming replica Mtech1s as the real deal.

I don't care what anyone else says, I absolutely love this thread. You are the king of all things rare and random that relates to e30s.

That valence is going to look awesome!

But I did find some weird thing in this car I parted out. I will send you photos, maybe you can tell me what it is.

                      Wrong.

Those are splash guards that mount below the Mtechnic airdam, against the undertray to prevent water splashing up into the 2 openings you will have on either side.

                      They are NOT splitters.

Secondly, it's easy to distinguish an OEM setup from replica. OEM is the only one moulded out of ABS plastic. All others are fiberglass. So easy on the "definition" of what makes it OEM...

ok dude take it easy. all of the things i listed still differenciate between aftermarket and OEM. one of my friends who worked for BMW back in the day and said they work as splitters. obviously he was wrong. i apologize for him. that being said, i still got the last one in germany so i thought that was pretty cool

                            I'm not worked up.
Trying to save you time and hassle with repetitive typing. ;)

BMW will make more of the underpanels. I went through the same thing 3 years ago with my Mtechnic 1 body kit. Except I think there were like 15 of the Left and only 1 of the Right. ;)

Cool additions to the thread - look forward to seeing the front valence "restored" and mounted...

I would appreciate if you would scan and post the color/options brochure for the '85 models...

                              Thanks and enjoying the thread.
