Purchased the majority of the OBD-I swap from the esteemed Mr. Kaiber. Also just got off the phone, put down a deposit on an 80k mile complete M52, with E34 pan/pickup/dipstick, and Getrag 260.
Added a 540i MAF and E36 steering rack to this one.

I'm now working with the yard on possibly getting an 88k mile S52 instead of the M52 with M3 cams. Waiting now for him to call back and accept my offer or make a counter offer.

^That's the goal, so if you hear of a good deal on a M5x let me know.

I want to get it in and running and then at least get a couple of Auto-x's in before the warranty period from the yard is up.

Luke, you can fly down the weekend we do the swap. You'd be more than welcome to crash on the couch and I'll pick you up from the airport. lol

    started a topic M50 + 88 Bronzit should = good times

    M50 + 88 Bronzit should = good times

This will be my progress thread. I'm still in the research/aquiring parts.

I purchased my first parts towards the swap this morning, THR adapter and E28 M5 motor mounts. Got a smoking deal on them ($210, hehe) from a fellow BMW guy.

The plan is get an M50 in and running with a lightweight flywheel, get any issues worked out, then do S50 cams and a chip. The car will retain PS and AC. No AC in Oklahoma is brutal in June/July/August.

I'll be using fleabay headers into a single 2.5" most likely with a Thermal Research and Development muffler.

Also planning on upping the spring rates on the coilovers from 350/500 to 450/625, rebuilding the GC camber plates, along with new control arms and I may ditch the GC control arm bearings for OEM M3 CABs, but not a definite. Also plan to swap in a 2.7 or 3.0 turn lock-to-lock E36 rack and use the TMS kit to reinforce the front subframe, then clean it up and powdercoat it. If I can stretch it, I may swap the Eibach sways for H&R's.

The Works are also going to be stripped and powdercoated and shod with 235/40/17s. Fresh SS lines and UUC slotted rotors, Hawk HPS pads and rebuilt calipers are already waiting to go on the car.

I plan to park the car in the next month or so and begin parting out the good bits on the M20 (2.7i guys, I'll make you a package deal on everything you'd need for your buildup) will also have an alt, oil pan, 173 DME, 91 octane MarkD chip, 19lb injectors, AKG delrin engine and tranny mounts.

I hope to have the car up and running again by mid to late April.
Working...
