Fedex brought some more parts yesterday. 328 steering rack, red label 413 DME, E34 pan/pickup, but no dipstick.
Getting closer all the time.Leave a comment:

Why not? Can't see the VIN and the filter housing is easily swapped. Just making sure the OP got the right thing.
Carry on.

I ran the VIN through the NICB and it came back to an auto '97 M3 sedan, so its the right motor (you can also tell if its an S motor is S is the third "digit" in the VIN).
Now I'm just looking for someone to run the VIN so I can confirm the mileage.Leave a comment:

The S52 arrived today at my dad's warehouse. Here are some iPhone pics as we were about to seal it back up to wait until I get some more parts.

And all sealed back up on the pallet.

Still be a little while until the motor goes in, probably another 8-10 weeks, maybe longer. I need to now recover from purchasing the engine/trans/steering rack/540i MAF/OBD-I swap and save up for the reseal/refresh parts, clutch setup (E30 M3 disc, with Sachs 618 PP, lightened M20 flywheel), new radiator, hoses, modified trans stuff and steering knuckle, etc.
Hoping to have it in by late May at the latest.Leave a comment:

My buddy has a 318i cab and he's over all the time helping me, so I can make all the mistakes and problem solving.Dammit, I SO wanna get in (and help) on someones 24V swap before I do mine.
BTW, check out "Spin Tech" mufflers.
Take tons of pics, clean the hell out of everything, and as always, the last 5% is gonna be the hardest to keep with the perfectionist thing...don't cave in.
