Not your typical 84 325eA project

We have big plans for this car. Couple that with a small time-frame, and this should be fairly entertaining. Bimmerfest is in five and a half weeks, this car will be there, though in slightly different form.

    Specs on the car:
    1984 325e Automatic, 160k miles
Hennarot exterior (believed original paint). Paint is decent, has a couple door dings and 4 scratches.
Black leather sport interior (original) in great shape.
Fully optioned from the factory except foglights and limited slip diff (13 button OBC, power sunroof, sport interior, leather, etc), and nearly everything works.

Currently the car has the factory drivetrain, but the engine has a mean rod knock. I will keep you all posted when I post up a new video titled "Death of an M20". (background)

The car will be receiving our standard M30b35 treatment, but will be retaining an automatic transmission. We have some, uhhhhhh, "other" things planned for the car as well. I wonder how much we can get done in 5.5 weeks.

So far all we have done is borrow the KW 60/40 suspension and Hartge's off of my black car project (which has been put off indefinitely until I find a better shell), Also we added the suede Mtech2 wheel, and H1/H4s as well.

Here are some pics as of 2 weeks ago...

      that's better.

In my opinion, a 60mm drop is too low for a daily driver, I'd ideally like something a little higher, so I don't have to stress about my oil pan and fenders...

              Henna?

              Henna Mentenna?

So that is the new love, huh? Pretty decent, Joe.

I believe you might actually keep this one...at least until someone offers you enough money for it.

I told you the paint looked pretty decent! :)
I have a feeling you will get to know this car very, very, intimately.

This was definitely a score and a half, to find a henna car with an original 8/10 exterior, and an original 8/10 interior.

And yes, those pictures were taken 3 separate days, all of which were raining. That's spring in the NW for you...

Man that car looks great. I'm not sure I understand why the automagic will be retained, but I'm sure you guys have a good reason.

                    Cool project, I'll watch.

Just for something a little different. I'm not gonna lie (maybe I am getting old?), driving around an automatic is pretty dang convenient... I know that I really enjoy driving E34 535i's, and I think that drivetrain would turn the E30 into a total sport cruiser.

...and the build is flexible. We can always change it over to a 5 speed down the line.

I think it's actually a cool idea, it'll be the only car i've ever seen/heard of to do it!
