What if McDonalds ran a special for $1 Big Macs and ran out of "special sauce" and closed down? I'm sure there would be lynch mobs carrying torches ready to burn down their local MickyD's. Or not?

A few (rightly) disappointed customers doesn't constitute a lynch mob carrying torches. I guarantee if some McDonalds restaurants in Austin made the same mistake a news crew could easily go get footage of white people looking just as silly.

I used to work at mcdonalds and every once in a while our soda pump would break. We would walk across the street, buy a couple hundred cans of soda, and give them with a significantly discounted meal. People flipped shits. It's not just black people, it's stupid people. I got in trouble for trying to rationalize with some lady that a can of coke, and a cup of coke are the same thing, minus the container. Whistling game show music, while pouring it in a cup in front of the customer is apparently against company police.
