We live in a country of sheeple who are only worried about themselves, and eating up everything that our foreign president has to say. I hope that we never see another revolution, but in this country gun owning civilians out number the armed forces, so that's good, if people will stand up for what's right. You're right about people being "complacent," that's thanks to the flouride in the water supply, Thanks Big Brother!

your ratio is right on. majority of people have long since settled back in their comfort zone. I know so many people who are guilty of this! "I'm making mine!" "I have my salary!". Capitalism does not come without it's bad side.

It's hard to put a finger on what makes certain people stay adept to the times, but I cannot help but see what's going on (or try hard to make out what it is)

Note: I have my deeper beliefs but I will leave them out; at least for now.

I will admit it, I have my other "bigger" worries and have gotten complacent as well.

That said, I do write my elected officials to voice my opinion, I try to keep up on all the shit going on and try filter through the BS distraction game to whats really going down. I try to surround myself with people like me, I carry a gun, I have out door skills and I will take care of my friends and family to the best of my ability no matter what happens.

I really dont think a "Revolution" will happen in this country not armed conflict anyway. The problem is that there are far too many people that dont educate them selves about how our Govt works or about the people they send there to represent them. Thus getting us into this shit storm we have coming

Well I hope it never comes to it, but if necessary I will stand for what this country was founded upon.

I don't remember you complaining when Bush got to appoint 2 justices to the Supreme Court...you didn't have any problems before the 2006 election when the Republicans controlled congress, the white house and the Supreme Court. So is it really checks and balances you're worried about? Or is it that your party is suddenly not the one in power, and you're just upset about it?

It seems you are disgruntled with American complacency. Can you name me something that you are doing, that matters (which doesn't include ranting), about it? what... voting?

Yeah lets start a revolution! Yet people still need to eat, which requires money which is earned by working. People, including you it sounds like, still have much to lose before anything drastic will happen.

Hey, Im guilty of this as well, being a piss poor college student.

I start political threads on r3v! What do you do!? Was I supposed to start an academic political thread here?

I'm not an American citizen so I cannot vote. I know there are other things I can do though.

At first glance, with Democrats a hair away from a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, one would expect President Obama to have no trouble hand-picking a replacement for retiring Supreme Court Justice David Souter.

But in an ironic twist, Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter's switch to the Democratic Party this week could give Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee the upper hand in rejecting a nominee they find unacceptable.

That's because the Judiciary Committee, where Specter was the ranking minority member, requires the consent of at least one Republican to end debate and move a nominee to the full Senate for a vote.

"I think, in narrow terms, it could present a procedural problem at the committee level, unless the Democrats are going to change the rules of the committee midstream," William Jacobson, a professor of law at Cornell University

                        Irony...
