    For the edges you can pick up the non-toxic CA glue from a hobby shop. Just apply a thin layer of it and allow it to dry. Avoid doing it under florescent light as it will turn white.

      I probably still would for cosmetic reasons, just because he's using it for a pick guard on a guitar, and probably wants it to look nice and shiny.
