    $9500 Horse wins Kentucky Derby.

Mine That Bird, a 50-1 Shot, Surges to Kentucky Derby Victory

Mine That Bird, who is trained by Bennie Woolley, was purchased as a yearling for only $9,500 and sold for $400,000 before the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile last year. He rewarded his few backers with $103.20 for a $2 bet to win. Only Donerail in 1913 won the Kentucky Derby at longer odds.
    Pretty cool shit.

Mine That Bird made those other horses look like they were running backwards. Quite an impressive win for any horse, much more so for a $9500 horse with 50-1 odds.

I caught this by accident as I was flipping through the channels, it was awesome!!! Second biggest upset in Kentucky Derby history. The part where he weaved through traffic to win it was amazing.

        I watched it

I love it when the long shot little guy's win, and even more so like this from dead last along the rail to 1st by 5 like it was a walk in the pasture. Have not seen a come from the back win that convincing in long time, for fucks sake he showed up in a horse trailer on the back of the pick up from New Mexico, not in a airplane and air conditioned semi trailer.

I love it the best Derby I have seen in long time. (The little woman is a big horse nut)

As a betting man, I wouldn't have backed that horse, haha.

                Wish I had though

With all the massive rule changes this year (AHEM - no steroids) I'm not surprised there was a "dark horse".

Just think of what that horse was saying to all the other horses.

Did any of you guys spot the E30 in the background when they were doing the pre-race story on the retired school principal who had his horse in the race?? I saw it at least twice- it was when the guy was leading his horse from the paddock out towards the track, you could clearly see a really clean-looking E30 in the background. Looked like a late-model DiamondSchwarz car IIRC...

I am a betting man also, and I lost money because I thought he had no chance. And the announcer was HORRIBLE, he didn't even know Mine that Bird's name until the end when he had to look at the roster sheet, the British caller did a much better job of calling the race, but all the replays of him calling it have been pulled from youtube. Here's the video for anybody that hasn't seen it.
