Anyone know how to fix RUNDLL errors?

Starting yesterday, I have been getting this message that pops up about once a minute saying: RUNDLL error... specified module could not be found... from the C:/WINDOWS folder.

Does anyone know the proper steps to fix this? I see programs advertised that say they can scan your computer and fix DLL errors of any type...

In the past, a restart of my computer is all it would take to fix the problem. Not this time. If I let my computer run all night, I have like... several hundred error windows I have to close the next morning. It's aggravating.

sounds like yuo hve some major registry issues

would suggest baking up your data and reinstalling the OS''its pretty painless and will make it feel like new.

or you can pay someone like me to do it for you

pop in your windows CD, restart the computer, and boot to the CD when prompted.

a few minutes into the process, the CD will search your computer for existing installations of Windows, find the one in your C:\WINDOWS directory, and ask you if you would like to repair it. choose yes.

it will copy a bunch of files from the CD to your hard disk and restart. after it restarts, go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and get any patches/service packs you need to be up to date.

What he said, but first download a slipstreamed torrent of Windows XP. This way you don't have to install all the updates/service packs. They're already included on the install disk. Saves you time.

              Sounds like a virus/spyware issue.

I googled the exact names of the .dll files, and yielded no results. Which is pretty unusual it seems, but here goes:

Sounds like some sort of malware to me.

Go download Spybot and run a scan: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html. Also try CCleaner to easily clean up temporary files and repair registry errors -- unlike all those other apps, this one isn't adware! http://www.ccleaner.com

And if you have a paid anti-virus app that's about to expire, I'd recommend either avast! or clamAV. Both are free and better than anything you'll pay for.

                      Good luck.

I googled the exact names of the .dll files, and yielded no results. Which is pretty unusual it seems, but here goes:

                          ivubiquyepiyij.dll

Your computer is infected with spyware/malware.

Some of these viruses are brutal and actually replicate and are immune to AV and spyware programs.

You can do a search for that file on your HD, although it is probably "hidden" so when you do your search, include files with the "hidden" attribute.

Try to delete it, but it probably won't let you.

Either way, get a handle on it quick before it takes over your whole system, to the point where it will prevent you from booting into Safe Mode or even accessing your registry.
