Any good photo opertunities in Eastern CT?

Im lookin for any good places to go and get some good shots close to Groton, I already know about Mystic, I have to start all over again since my lovely ex wife seems to have taken my thumb drives with all my work on them. 32 gigs of photos from all over new england through the summer, fall and winter, gone.

Any one know of any good places to go?

Gillette's castle is pretty sweet, you would be able to get some good photo ops there. It overlooks the Conneticut river... or maybe it's the Mystic river...

Another town with some nice scenery is stonington...The "borough" as it is known is an old fishing town with narrow streets. I think it is exit 91.. Or one past the "scenic overlook" overlooking mystic.

I may come up with more ideas as I think about them... My dad lives in that area (works in Groton) so I know it well. I assume you're at the sub base?

Tons of places... Go with another driver and the Merritt Parkway makes for a great scenic drive or meander your way out to Lime Rock Park. There's a castle down your way as well that's great for photo shoots.

Lime Rock Park is an absolute gem of a track. LOVE it.

We could turn this into a meet for the non idiotic CT owners...

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.

There is Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, if you don't mind hiking. Just drive around Litchfield county, there is plenty of shit there, especially Lime Rock Park. :)

Yes. I adore the Merritt. Back when I had my E30, I loved the long sweepers and the elevation change as you get towards NY. The only problem is the fun sections have a speed limit of 45, when you could just rip them at 75. That, and the roads are rife with the constabulary. Nothing like whizzing by a brown Crown Victoria to make you clench your cheeks tight.

YES! Can you name the idiotic CT owners that I should avoid?

No need for blazing speed it's the scenery you want as aback drop anyway. It's to bad the rest areas are long since been yanked. I would love some pictures of the art deco bridges along the Merritt. Most are crumbling concrete these days and it's a shame.

I live literally 5 minutes from Sleeping Giant, and the Merritt is great fun too. Just avoid the rush hour times during the weekday, as it can get pretty crazy.

And yes up around LRP (northwest CT) is gorgeous. Check out the covered bridge in New Caanan. Very nice area.

Dropped325i. Look him up. I wouldn't mind a nice CT/MA get together, I'm sure if timed right some RI guys would come too.
