People STOP when you try to cross the street. Unheard of on the east coast. A couple times I walked too close to the edge of the sidewalk and people stopped.

lol, it's state law in CO to stop for pedestrians. side note, simple possession of marijuana $100 fine, failure to yield to pedestrains $15 fine. so you can ALMOST RUN A PERSON OVER and pay 15 bucks, but have some pot in your pocket for pesonal use, 100 bucks. figure that one out. these fines are all listed in the county courthouse, so this isn't personal experience, just an amusing observation.

It's state law in PA, but no one pays attention to it.

ive lived in vancouver which is right across the river from portalnd for 16 years. i really enjoy it here. portland isnt my fave. you have hippies and weirdos all over the place which some people love like most of my family. they have a lot of good restaurants and some cool bars. very biker friendly which pisses me off cus alot of them dont follow the road laws and then bitch when they get hit by cars.
what i like about vancouver/ portland is that your close to the mountains, beach and dessert. the summers are nice, the winters arent to bad. and id know i do construction and work in the elements. people are pretty friendly and the roads arent to bad to navigate. i lived in NJ for a year and i much rather live here.
hope you have a good visit.

I forgot about that. OMFG they piss me off. And I even ride a bike. They seem to think it's always the cars fault. Fucking retards. If you don't want to die, then you better pay some attention to cars eh. The media plays right into this as well.

You sound very Portland-eque. But seriously get a job first. Unemployment is ~12% in Oregon right now.

lots of drugs in pdx but you'll get that anywhere you go. Stereoinstaller pretty much summed it up for ya.

lots of good outdoorsy type shit to do there, cool festivities in the summer, fun stuff, beautiful place to live, oh yeah the cops are dicks, ask me how I know.
