cheap international shipping for larger or heavy parts?

anyone ever shipped a large or heavy part internationally? i'm looking at shipping a transmission overseas and am looking for the cheapest and most reliable method. thanks.

I shipped a set of strut housings to the UK from my e28 via USPS. A transmission would probably be over their maximum weight limit though. However, the rate was very reasonable. Good luck.
