    Remedies for reducing a fever?

    Got a fever all of a sudden two nights ago. Now it's back, I've tried drinking a lot of water, tried taking a cold bath and a hot shower, neither worked for more than a few minutes. The other day it was 101.1, no it's 102.6... All the "facts" i've found on the internet seem to contradict each other. Help is appreciated!

      Motrin is a fever reducer as well as Tylenol. Fever is sign of nasty infection. 800mg of Motrin will not hurt you nor will 1000mg of Tylenol. Take 600mg of motrin and an hour later take 500mg of tylenol, or just the full dose of either one and alternated every 3 hours.

      Cold showers actually will make it worse by chilling the body it speeds up the metabolism to make heat.

      Cold compress like a towel soaked in cold water and wrung out across the fore head and covering both temples, on the insides of you wrists, inner thighs and back of the knees will help. It will pull heat from the blood where its close to the surface.

      102.6 is getting close to the seriousness man, 103 is get your ass to the docs right now kinda thing.

      You got some of that pig flu or something?? Seriously if it has not gotten better or broke by morning get your ass into the doc ASAP

            both of what they said^^^ plus, lots of oranges(vitamin c) and do some aerobics to get the blood flowing. by boosting your heart rate, you boost metabolism and your body will recieve nutrients faster. so do the jump rope or fast jumping jacks, eat an orange or two(just lots of fruit in general) THEN take your meds and wash up in hot water(opens the pores) the sweat that shit out while you sleep.

            this happened to me at football training camp and thats what our trainer told me to do. it worked.

            p.s. wonton soup from any chinese restuarant helps.

                  Great replies i'm impressed. You want to let the fever run its course. Your body is running a fever so your enzymes work faster. I would let it get to 104 before I would get to worried. Your body will take care of itself. Do you have any other symptoms?

                    Rubbing alcohol and water mix. rub it all over your body 3 times a day and it pulles the fever out. I used to get sick once a year with temps as high as 105 and I would have to be packed in a ice and rubbing alcohol bath at the hosp just to keep my temps down. Works wonders..

                        Lots of liquids, sleep and make sure you get something done the hatch once in a while.

                          Yea dude, alcohol and water mix will pull it out of you.. ttry jumpin around and doin push-ups in a jacket or seats but constantly monitor your temp and blood pressure. too much will cause you to pass out...

                          Jack or any whiskey will work wonders too. cigarettes help lower the bodys temp..

                          but seriously, I'd smoke a cig, drink some crown/goat milk, work out, and sleep under some quilts after gobblin down some nyquil and feel like a new man in the morning.

                            get a towel
                            cold water
                            soak the towel
                            put lemon juice all over the towel
                            lift up your shirt
                            place the towel over your stomach
                            20 min later the towel will be super hot
                            and repeat the process.

                            that will remove some of the heat from your body

                              Sweat it out. Cover yourself with like 2-4 blankets take some Nyquil and take a nap. You'll wake up all wet but you will be feeling alot better. Always works for me.
