    F%$(ing Apple and Ipod question

    Ok I am not up on the whole MP3 thing much and the like as I have XM in my truck and that works for me.

    Now I bought the G/F a 230gig Classic this last xmass. She dose not use it a ton but enough, now I had a friend of mine load up a 2 4gig flash drives and we put all those on it, then she ripped nearly every CD we have on to for the songs that were not on the flash drives.

    Now She didnt use it for at least 2 months from mid march till just 2 weeks ago when we moved from MT to IA she was gonna use it in the tahoe. Went out and go the cable to plug it into the factory deck. Well the battery was dead so we plug it into the comp to charge like normal the night before we set off on our trip.

    Well now there are 5 songs on the fucking thing thats it outta at least 1400 there are fucking 5.

    What the hell happened they are not even listed in the I tunes Library on this comp anymore.

    every thing is all fucking gone.

    I seem to remember reading something similar a while back but cant find it.

    Did you plug it into someone elses computer to charge it? You need to turn off music sync, or turn on "Manually manage" I think. Something along those lines. Otherwise whatever computer you plug it into it will sync to that itunes.

        BTW I totally hate Apple's sync'ing thing. We have three iPods and four Mac laptops at home. Not one iPod is sync'ed and it allows them to get tunes, easily on any laptop.

        Sync'ing is great for monagamous iPods. Mines are swingers...

            But I plugged it into this computer and its the only one that has I tunes on it for this very reason. and we only have the one I pod so thats why I wondering WTF

              The Truth. It seems as thought you may have deleted your music somehow, as the ipod will not erase your library.

              To turn off sync, Click edit -> Preferences, click the Devices tab, and select the box that says "Disable automatic syncing for your iPhones and iPods".

              From now on you will have to manually sync by hitting the big blue SYNC button.

                Thanks guys

                screwing around with it for the last hour or so, and found all the music in the library but it was not in the play list anymore but still on the comp and had to put it back into the library.

                Now I have to find the sync cord to put all of it back on there and set it to manual

                  Even if you connect it to an empty iTunes, doesn't it prompt you before it erases?

                  At least that's what it's always done for me.

                    I dont know really, I just pluged it in to charge before the night before we left and went to bed.

                      On that note I've heard the USB charger does a quick charge and is hard on the battery? Where as the AC charger does a full charge and doesn't have any ill effects on the battery?

                      Anyone confirm this?
