Union Iron workers? What're you guys working on there?Hey now. Haha.
Honestly, I was pretty nervous my first week and a half out here. Mainly because the day after orientation I was told to grab my gear and meet my foreman up at the top. Turns out the top was 320 some odd feet. Took me a little while to get acclimated to, mainly because it is the highest I have had the opportunity to work. But now, I've got no problem walking across the steel, like it's nothing. Don't get me wrong, the second you lose the respect for the height you're at, is the same second you fall. So it is always on my mind.

What work are you doing dealing with radiation?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I know what you mean about respect for the job was a pipe layer for 10 years and being in a hole 25+ feet deep in a steel box with a bucket that could make me a red stain on the wall, or cave ins when we didnt need to use boxes. Now I play with radiation all day and that can kill ya too, along with the fact that I still around heavy equipment all the time as well, so yeah I know about the respect for the job.

Nah, non-union. I think the only big union stuff around here is mostly red iron (commercial buildings and such) in this area. Honestly, I've only met one union IW in the past ~4 years that I have been working.

Here's the view from my home office. I work from home most of the time anyways. Nothing beats a cold beer, feet in the pool, and working on my laptop. This is facing the Hills in LA. Laurel Canyon straight ahead. Hollywood sign is just out of the picture to the right.

Hmmmmm, that wouldn't be the WGS project at COP Alliance in Belle Chasse would it? If so, I've probably seen you on the site!Just thought I would throw up some pictures that I took with my phone at work the other day.

Roughly 350 ft off the ground. I can just barely see New Orleans while in the air (we are about 15-20 miles away). Not the best job, but it can be fun and I am around a bunch of really good guys that would do anything for you.
It's a weird feeling when you are looking down on some of the tallest cranes in the area.Comment
