A night in downtown miami. ( photography )

1st of all thanks to all the people who helped me pull this stunt off. San Pinga and Raimel thanks for helping me take the shot of my dreams.

I wish I would of had a wide angle, and I wish I would of walked 10 more feet to the right. But my heart was racing and I could of gotten caught, or hit by a car at any second. Basically I was dropped off before the off ramp and I walked up the ramp with my gear and a orange cone that I hoped would help people notice me on the 1 lane ramp. I was up there for about 10 minutes, before my ride went back around the highway loop. During those 10 minutes I dealt with a lot of wind moving the tripod, cops seeing me honking and pointing there spot light at me, strangers honking at me, and risking the chance of almost getting hit by multiple cars.

All in all it was worth it to me. Regardless of my position on the ramp, and the fact that I did not have a wide angle, I still got the shot that I dreamed of. Well thats about it.

I like how you captured one of the cop's in that second delayed exposure.

                Nice shots man!

I take it you've been here before? Or your basing this off the 15+ year old overpass picture?

Guys I was using a nikon d300 with the 18-200 glass. Settings were, iso 200, shutter 30 seconds, and aperture at a fstop of 18 - 22.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I did not get caught @ the 1st spot where picture number 1 was taken. But many civilians honked @ me, cops pointed the lights at me and I had to bail. Its not everyday you see someone next to a highway sign with full camera equipment, and cars passing by.

Here is where I was standing for the 1st picture.

I've been to Miami several times and the place just disgusts me. Almost as much as NYC. It's just dirty.

I agree. Everything was completely filthy and disgusting when I was there last year too. Those pictures are amazing though and I never really put much thought into just how much effort it takes to get a shot like that.

Yeah i know what you guys mean. I hated nyc when i was up there a couple of months back. The city i think sucks. I like living out west though the broward, kendall, area. All that south beach, miami downtown is overrated i think.

I personally liked Southbeach, spent some time there and actually was offered a job at an indy surf/skate shop while I was there - seriously considered it.

miami could be a much nicer city, but as others have said it is just so hot and humid and dirty. the nice parts of the city and surrounding areas (incl ft lauderdale) are really nice, but the "normal" parts are typically really crappy, and the crappy parts of the city are just scary.
