Europe $5000 dollars 30 days help?

Hey guys. Im planning to go to europe for 30 days. I will be packing lightly and staying in youth hostels and friends and families houses. I have never flown to europe and i have no idea how much I should budget for a trip like this. Airfare aside how much do you think it would cost to see a couple of countries in europe and stay for 30 days.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

With $5000 you're golden. You could do fine with around $3000.

I plan to buy a euro rail pass, but I keep hearing about ryan air as a alternative to riding the trains. Anyone ever heard of them?

Buy a bike while you're there. That or bring one with you.

I am planning on doing the same thing next summer. 5 grand should be PLENTY. My roommate (who has backpacked Europe before), said that I could stretch 5 grand over 2-3 months. You need to be budget minded however.

Bring it with you and a travel case for airline travel. Bikes in EU are expensive! Bring a used bike so if it gets damaged you won't get to upset if it gets damaged.

Ryan Air is a great deal basically it's Southwest's business plan in EU.

I went to europe last summer for a month and 2 grand will get you all your basic necessities, roundtrip airfare, hotels/friends hospitality, and food/water.
Might i say that you should not trust the water; not even the locals trust their own water. Buy bottled water and play it safe.

3 grand in your possession and you'll be free to go wherever, do whatever, stress free, carefree, assuming that you have no super expensive propositions in your plan...

I agree with everyone. Ryan Air was awesome.
You'll have to spend about $500 for one day, though. The day you go to the NurburgRing.

Don't tell me you're going to Europe and not making it there. It's worth it, promise.

Ryan Air is good, I haven't used it, but know plenty whom have. Very cheep flights.

Also, DO plan for a 'ring trip. It's worth it, even if you just watch the cars from a distance. With that budget you could likely get in on a Ring Taxi ride though.

If I'm off and headed to the 'ring while you're here, I'd give ya a ride. I'm sure others would as well.

                        $5000.00?

I'd probably spend that in one week in Prague on Hookers...

ryanair is the god of cheap travel and is a fraction of the cost of trains, only problem is that you'll spend half your trip waiting in airports.

Good luck with $5000, youth hostels are cheap yes.. fewding yourself isn't. Just stay out of London and you'll be good.
