i heard a story where a guy was pulled over for driving in the right hand lane (overtaking lane in australia) because he drove it in for about 2.5kms, he stated he was on a 1 point for 1 year good behaviour bond with the police, and they still rapped him, even though he was properly over taking slower cars and trucks.

some cops are just out to raise revenue, and not be nice people and give warnings.

This law has been in effect since 05 I believe and was a targeting system for revune collection for out of state people.

Va has very tough Misdemeanor offenses. What most do is hire a lawyer. Look on BFc in the DC chapter and review the cases mentioned there. Mass just instituted the Slow down move over after a Trooper got hit by a Semi this winter. Both were honestly at fault, semi was speeding in snow and the trooper was parked on the highway not on the shoulder.Comment

Dude Ben that's 'tarded. I love our state cops, they pinch NY and MA dolts who speed past their nests on 91 and 84 alllll the time. There are 3 of those nests or wahtever they're called in one 5 mile stretch on my part of 84 so whenever I get on I see at least one car pulled over rocking a NY or MA plate.

 Thanks for the advice everyone.

Decided to forgo a lawyer and ended up writing a letter explaining the situation and pleading not guilty. Found guilty yesterday and have a $311 fine to pay within 15 days. Definitely irritated, but at least it wasn't over $400.1991 318i Alpine II - S50/5-lug swapped - track carOriginally posted by BillBraskyE36's are the Stephen Baldwin of the 3 series family. That's a damn shame man, but it sounds like VA makes fighting those sort of charges nearly impossible. I still maintain that if there was a good amount of traffic in both lanes, moving over to the left lane was going to be a duesy without pissing someone off and potentially causing an accident. Good information though, I'll definitely keep it 10 under and drive like a grandma the next time I pass through there.- Trey

I'm a new yorker who got pulled over on 84 3 days ago. I was actually passenger tho and it was for no seat belt driver.Dude Ben that's 'tarded. Wow they got your friend for no seatbelt? I wasn't referring to anyone in particular, just the weaving 90MPH bastards. I always figured it was too much of a strain for a cop to stare into a car's cabin to see if a seatbelt was on, only for them to have to whip out to catch the car.
