My point was that you cannot "Stop" breathing on your own

Tickling triggers the same receptors in your brain associated with pain.

I also saw on TLC awhile back where a man was clinically dead for over 4 hours and came back to life.

He was snowmobiling and drowned in an icy lake, his brain shut down everything except a minscule amount of electrical activity in itself. When found they drained his blood and used this special machine to recirculate it into his system, warming it very very slowly.

My facts might be a little off, but it is true.

The "box of life" which are the thoracic and abdominal cavities can hold an average of 2L of additional fluid. The average person has 5L of blood. Rapid deceleration when wearing a seat belt over the shoulder can cause a carotid artery dissection, where the person would bleed to death without spilling a drop of blood on the ground (think 5L - 2L = 3L = hypoperfusion of tissues = death).

This was common in the US around the advent of mandatory seat belts for cars because the hanger for the belts were not adjustable. Research in emergency medicine highlighted this issue, and cars now have adjustable hangers, although E30's don't.

There was a Dr. Oz clip from not too long ago where a man is having a heart transplant but the surgeon cant see because there is so much bleeding from the scar tissue that built up over his previous surgeries.

He then drains all of the patient's blood and keeps him on bypass with cold water pumping through his veins for about half an hour until they cleared all the scar tissue. I thought it was flippin amazing.
