mount your subwoofer and then fill the enclosure with water. then measure that water.

Now that we have all had our fun with the subwoofer slander, how about some actual knowledge?

Sealed boxes are not a precise thing.

If you are within 25% of the "correct" box size, that is close enough.

The 1.5 cubic foot spec is the small end of that 25%.

Be bigger than that, all will be fine.

            thanks everyone.....even you rigmester...especially you...

i calculated it using liters and thats such a easy step i never thought of...i was focused too much on "the book"...

it is a small enclosure for a 15, but thats what its rated at for its minimal size,( sealed).

i may do a stovepipe later, but that may be way out of my scope of ability.
            pix will come

            btw...
my wonderful trusty battery operated jigsaw battery died..and i used the saw blade w/a pair of vicegrips to finish its cutout....(which came out suprisingly good....it can hold the 15 upside down w/out any screws or fasterners...)

            pics after install...(hopefully Friday)

I can't wait to see the pics.

Oh, and your location says "milky way", in what part of the Hershey Highway is that located? I'd like to come visit you sometime so we can compare subwoofer enclosures.

                heres some pix...

im at 9 layers...5 of f.g. and 4 of the perforated cloth.
very light yet i think stronger than steel.

1st pic is of a 10 year old battery operated jig saw that works for about 2 minutes.

this pic is of the jig saw that works as long as i can hold it.

( actually pretty good. i cut larger to sand down to the smooth lines)

always us a pc for exact measurments.

                some paper/ cloth

                baking in the sun.

and the mylar keeping it tight and smooth...no rough spots yet.

                after all the trimming,
slid the top end on. and gelcoated outside is now visible (all mylar removed)

not sure if your being sarcastic....

                    its the rough part..
it gets trimmed below the top bucket line, and should be as smooth as a camera lense, and im going to paint it too...(not into the carpet shag so much)...unless the carpet makes it sound better.

the 1st layer of glass was done horizontally on mylar and a flat peice of foam board. to ensure a smooth surface...the rest of the f.g. layers is the thickest i could buy at TAP plastics, and i gotta admit..its strong stuff.

i think i was fine at 5 layers, and 9 is just crazy..but im going for the strongest ive seen. ive heard f.g. doesnt sound as good, so i am going to rule out the possible weakspots by overstrengthening all areas...and really...its getting easier. i may make a plug from this one, and make more.

Wow, Mr. Rigmaster. That would have been funny if Hershey made Milky Way, instead of M&M/Mars.
