If it hasn't been mentioned it's best to not have one of the Three F's on a permanent basis. -
I'm looking for a boat too, but not of that stature. Sounds good, I say get it and I'll be telling you to bring it to my spot (I'll be building a floating dock) on the Snake River.
I say go down to a local landing somewhere, bring a six-pack, and get an earful from a local boater up here.Leave a comment:

Depends on how big the boat is, and how it is on gas. If you dont have to pay to store it, it shouldnt be too expensive.
I have a 1962 19' Boston whaler montauk with a 125 yamaha that I take out to the ocean on calm days. Sometimes I tow it to the keys where theres shallow reefs and calm water. Realistically, between beer, gas, rigs, bait etc. It cost me 100 and change for every time I launch it. Not bad.
But we fish year round so we can justify the cost a little easier.Leave a comment:

i have a boat but its not near the boat youre talking about. mines a 19' searay and i bought it cheap so i could let my kids take chicks out and bang them on the lake and i wouldnt have to worry about anyone fucking up a 50k dollar boat. if i didnt have a slip on the lake id never own a boat. mine sits in the water in a slip i pay like a grand a season for and i still hardly use it. my son does but i dont much. maybe 5 or 6 times a year. if i had to trailer it to a lake, fuck that. if i were you id buy a cheaper boat. especially since you have a limited season like i do. its just too expensive for the short season and youll really hate that fucking boat payment in februaryLeave a comment:

Who here owns a boat
So my buddy here in Jackson is trying to offload his wakeboard boat. Its a 2008 Mastercraft X1 thats pretty loaded. Ballah stereo, 350 horse motor, 1850 ballast, etc. Doesnt want to much for it either, 30k with 72 hours on it or so. Basically wants to get out of his payments, not trying to make a buck.
But my thoughts cant seem to get away from the old adage "a boat is a hole in the water you pour money into". Im not naive, and realize that this thing is going to be expensive between insurance, gas, maintenance, etc. But just how expensive. Realistically it will be in the water 1 day a week for 4 months of the year. So give or take between 16-20 full days a year.
I live in Idaho like Farbin, shit is pretty damn cheap here. I can afford a sweet toy, but I dont want to be in to far over my head. For the boat owners out there, how much realistically does running your boat cost you a year. Im not talking payments, but rather all the other stuff like gas, insurance, etc. Payments vary from boat to boat, but the general stuff should give me an idea. Like I said, Im prepared for it to be rediculous, i just want to know how much so.Tags: None
