Going to join my parents for lunch and a cop pulls out behind me and lights em up.

He says my tail lights are too dark, I've got nothing to say about that so I nod. But then he and his partner turn on "douchebag" mode and start nitpicking at everything.

The list:

Missing high beams
Tint too dark on the front windows- 50% (is not, I actually had it done legal at a reputable tint shop)
Missing front plate
Exhaust too loud

**drumroll**

Failure to sign my registration.

WTF?

He starts handing me back my documentation when my license slips and falls just outside my door. I go to open my door and he damn near pulls out his gun, so I say, "I'm just going for my license before the wind blows it over(pretty windy today)" He says, "It won't blow over, get it after we leave"
I ask, "could you hand it to me then?", he just ignores me.

The cops in my town have meters to measure your window tint. I would have asked them to measure it and prove that they're over the limit since they were already being dicks.

check local laws but in the south a car does not have to have lights during the day. Hand signals can be used for turning and stopping. Also fight the ticket with the tint if it is in fact legal. You can get this checked at a local police station. Just have a friend drive it there and say he is looking to buy it and wants in checked out to see if its legal. Be cool and they will as well.

Here most of the time the police don't even show up for court so you win. Worth a shot. Because that could be considered a moving violation and points awarded to your license.

Put normal tail lights on
get a % verification sticker on your tint
