Right now the biggest gripe with the MV is its weight. Its ~20lbs more than the Ducati in stock form. Its surprisingly nimble for it but it could use a diet. Im working on it with this one. Ive managed to shave about 10lbs off of the chassis and my big hit would be lighter wheels. Dropping 7lbs of unsprung weight in a single step. :puppy:

As for it being a handful at walking pace I haven't noticed it. At first I was on some tires that needed to be changed out but since putting the 2CTs (lol you can see those pics were taken the first day back from the tire fitter) on it the bike behaves a lot differently. It plays along nicely with my limited mass and doesn't seem to dance more than one would expect on irregular surfaces.
I'm not exactly new to bikes, but I haven't done any track riding yet, just aggressive back road twistys. I've had 3 Honda 600s (F2, F4i, 600rr), and I've ridden plenty of newer GSXR 750s, 1000rr, and a 1098R for about 40 feet before I got scared (dont wanna drop your buddies brand new $30k toy) :p

The 848 I'm looking at should dyno down right around 125 I think, definitely quick enough to get moving, especially when you consider that it makes more torque throughout the entire RPM range than any 600/750 (and most older liter bikes).

Lighter wheels are the best mod you can possibly do to a bike. My cousin slapped some BST carbon wheels on his GSXR 600 track bike, and it was night/day difference even on the back roads. I cant imagine how awesome it would feel to ride a stock wheeled bike vs carbon wheels back-to-back..

Ive looked at the carbon but the idea of that hitting a pothole scares me a little. For track wheels I would be game but I think I will stick to metallic wheels. The Tambos/Agos came with the Mg Marchesini/Brembo wheels and I think that will be my route, eventually. They are only 2lbs more than the carbon combined. Those used in good condition are still hovering around $2k though.

Right now my wheels combined are about 25lbs, the "stock" forged alum 18lbs, the Oro wheels, 15lbs and the marchesinis basically the same but prettier.

I randomly decided to look up Agusta bikes on ebay after seeing Vlad's "current bike" on the first page of this thread and I think I found his "current bike" for sale on ebay...

That looks about right, painting every nut and bolt red. Seems like something he would do. If he gets that asking price he is scoring. There is a newer 10009 on the Marchesini Alum wheels right below it for $4k less with an actual upgrade instead of a bunch of CF stickers and painted screws.

The rest of it is a collection of parts on ebay(also something he does). Its covered is shitty paint over aluminum parts and tons of carbon fiber stickers.

The RG3 exhaust is worth something and I guess the CRG levers would be worth maybe $100 used.

I'd buy an 848 over a 1098 or 1198 any day. Lighter, cheaper, more fun. Much better bang for the buck.

Brand new rider? I'd look at a Monster if you insist on getting a Duc. The Monster 696 is a seriously FUN bike for short money (in Duc terms) and it's still a proper weapon in the right hands.

I missed out on that race. Was tryin to save money that weekend.

Thanks. It's growing on me every day (I've been DDing it save for a few rainy days - gotta keep my laptop dry). I swear the german that designed this bike had my build, it fits like a glove.

Surprisingly, I've seen a few 1098s that are priced within a $100-300 of the 848s around here. I'll probably end up with a 1098, because that's the one I've always dreamed of, and if I got an 848 it'd always be in the back of my mind that I didnt get "the one"...

Ub3erg33k (I forgot your name again..), we need to ride some time, my friend just bought an old 80s BMW r series, and Im getting the Victory out this weekend :)

Well, after having my m1 license for a couple months I finally went on a ride this weekend. My buddy let me borrow his 09 250 Kawasaki Dual Sport, because he just bought a brand new 2011 (12?) 1000.

I now have the itch to get a bike. I plan on selling my dirbtike and picking up a sportbike. I was looking at later model 600's, but they seem to be too expensive, so I am thining an 08+ ninja 250. What do you guys think of these bikes? It will be an around town/cruise/canyon run bike. I am 6'2 around 220 lbs.

                    now sold

also, dont buy a new bike. buying an 08 just to smash the hell out of it is not a great idea. 250 is a good start though. very wise choice. buy an old bike for $600 like i did because you will drop it

Anyone here ever own one? I could get something way newer and "faster"
For the same if not cheaper But this bike is a childhood dream of mine.

Heres one I was looking at http://www.rc51forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8154

In 04 they produced a Nicky Hayden LM edition,
Its the only rc51 model in the US that came with a silver frame, also has all them cool ass racing stickers so you can think you're a badass motorcycle racer!
