just replaced the stator on my 02 R1, notorious problem with these bikes, and one of THE bitchiest jobs ive ever had to do. the flywheel/magneto wheel likes to stick to the crankshaft, and theres a bunch of ways to get it off, ranging from it being as easy to bang off with a mallet, to having to cut it off. Just a bad design on Yamaha's part

thankfully, i was able to get it off with a 5 ton gear puller (which broke right as it popped off :eeek: and an air gun, after that it was a breeze.

Took it for a spin the other day to test it, and came back all smiles, you forget how truly unreal a liter bike is after not riding one for a while. now i have to sell it :(

Im thinking about getting a little CB125. $300 for a non running that has been sitting, or $550 or so for a minty running one.
