    After seeing these at Auburn Auction, I'm alright with kit cars. Dad drove the Cobra at one of their test tracks.

      I'd rock a kit car. A little 32 Ford with a 392 Hemi. Those Cobras are cool along with the GT40's. The 356's a 550's are flat out awesome too.

            This thread came about because I responded to a thread requesting information on Porche 356 kits. I mentioned that I did not personally like kit cars after giving a link to a Kit-Car website, and then went on to offer the option of buying a real 356 coupe or project car which would probably be the same in cost when all was said and done. That was my opinion, that is what I would do if I wanted a 356. If someone wants to build a kit-car that is great, go for it, but don't expect me to fawn over it at a car show as much as I would a real example.

            As far as my sig and avatar are concerned, some may have noticed that I have changed it probably a dozen times up to this point. I am coming to this forum on a borrowed computer because I am in the middle of a 2000 mile move. My laptop died, and my desktop with Photoshop and other programs is still with my wife halfway across the country. I did all of my images on this site with MS Paint and there is only so much subtlety allowed by that ancient program. I agree the images at this point are over the top and look like ass. They will probably change, again, and again before they are something I like. And that will probably be when I get back on my own computer at a time yet to be determined.

                        I know Dave from FF personally. Ive walked through the shop up in the Cape, and seen the GTM prototype in person. You guys are right its not the the real thing, its better.

                          As to kit cars...

                          I have a customer at the shop that owns a 550 Spyder (the real deal) and he also has a replica.

                          When I saw the two side by side (in the bastards 6 car garage), I tell you I was hard pressed to tell them apart.

                          Of course then the guy did tell me that the replica cost something in the neighborhood of 80 grand.

                            I don't like kit cars. That's my opinion. I may be a wanker because of it.
                            If you like kit-cars, great. I won't think of you less as a person if you do. I also don't like Hondas, but my mom drives one. It doesn't mean that I don't like her. I see the reason for kit cars and Hondas, that doesn't mean that I will ever own one or the other.
                            I just think it is funny that in a forum where people will point out every M-badge on a non-M car, or take pride in pointing out the 'fake' M3s, people have such a problem with my point of view.
