    The Pre-90's Dope Bike Thread

I just came across so much goodness that I had to share.

    Behold:

Please keep this going. I've been trying to convince myself to put the e30 on hold for a 2 wheeled build.

This kind of stuff really makes me want to keep my motorcycle and not upgrade to something newer. just needs a bigger engine and some fatter tires....

alright thats it, my first engine/tranny swap is going to be on my motorcycle.

The 400cc Hawk GT is a great bike. It never really caught, back in the days. Maybe because it was pretty small. But I would get one anyday now.

Back in the mid 1980's I had:

1st bike. Honda FT500 mono. I real POS. They all had starter problems.

2nd bike. 750cc Honda Nighthawk S. Great mid power bike with driveshaft. I toured the US with it. Required no maintenance at all.

3rd bike. I wanted power. Got the 1000cc Honda Hurricane. Narrow rear tire. Stolen.

4th bike. During some summer holidays in Southern France, I saw a German couple at the hotel where I was staying. They rode the bike I had to have. 1000cc Honda CBR-F. Back in Canada, Honda was overstocked with the previous generation Hurricane and had no plan to sell the current CBR-F. So, as it was about to be available in the US, I ordered one from my local dealer. The trip back across the border still brings the shop employee and myself some great memories. The border agents thought we were smuggling drugs or something, and couldn't understand the brand new bike, on a trailer with all taxes paid and paperwork done. We got cross interrogated for two hours. Almost stripped searched... I am still laughing at the situation.
Sold the bike when I got my son. I want to buy another one, 15 years later.

Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

ive got my dads 80/81 cb-900f in the garage. im too lazy to go snap pics because it doesnt look much different than other jap bikes from the era. at the time honda's hot bike was the cb 750 but my dad knew the cb900f was coming and pre-ordered one and waited while all his friends bought 750s.

its pretty quick even compared to bikes of today, thought is a bit heavier. i let my friend with a 2000-something ninja 600 ride it and he came back not so impressed. after talking i found out he didnt ride it hard because he didnt wanna beat on my bike. i sent him back out and told him to keep it above 8k or so and he came back scared.

since im too lazy to take one, heres a pic.

Lets get more custom builds in here. Pictures of stock bikes are yawn zones.
