Of course you can see it from far away, it's a HUGE MOUNTAIN...I live 20 minutes from Tacoma, it's not part or Mt. Rainier, I'm sorry...didn't realize you'd take it so fucking personally.

I'm glad you enjoy Tacoma. It does have it's really cool parts, mostly the ones you mentioned. If you go to my website you'll see a few pics of Tacoma at night. The recent renovations along the waterfront there are a step in the right direction to rebuild the city in a positive fashion. With that said, it is towards the bottom of my list for places to live. To each their own...

I was just up there a week and a half ago visiting my sister and the parts of Tacoma and University Place I have been in are nice. I can also vouch for Ranier. I spent a day hiking on the mountain while I was there. I love going up on the mountain and hiking. The Wonderland Trail is great. I want to hike the entire trail someday but right now I have bigger fish to fry. Hiking the entire trail would take over a week. I think it is about ninety miles long but it has very steep climbs and decents.

We actually stayed in a Hotel in Garibaldi because we got in too late. There's a campground at the south end of the city that is right on the bay with lots of room to stay at. No trees around, it's a big open field which is kind of a let down but still very nice in the morning.

Here is a map of all the Oregon State parks. You just have to check on the website to see if they take reservations and make sure you get one. Especially if you plan on going for a weekend.

Kirkland isn't 20 minutes from Tacoma. It's more like an hour. Totally different man.
