    brass threads in steal bolt

I just got a compressor from an old neighbor who passed away. When I got it home the pressure release valve broke off. It has a hollow brass bolt is still in the tank. I got an ezout to pull it out but the brass just gave and accepted the ezout. So now I have an ezout all the way in the take and it has not moved. Does anyone have an idea of how to pull this thing out with out drilling it out because I don’t what the shavings in the tank.
    Thanks

Well at least the grammar police are out tonight.

The brass just molded to the ezout, letting me tighten it all the way. I guess the only way out is with a drill bit and a shop vac.

i thought ezout loosens the bolt? try turning it the other way.

It does, you can only turn an ezout one way. The bolt that is stuck is really stuck.

Remember that the threads on the pressure release valve will be tapered NPT threads. I don't know what type of easy out you were using, but any pressure you apply clockwise will only make it tighter. I would try one of the two following methods. Depending on how far down the valve broke off, there should be about an 1/8" hole through the center of it. You could fill the hole with some silicone and let it dry to prevent chips from falling in the compressor and then grind slots into both sides with an 1/8" bur in a pencil grinder (you'll need to have a steady hand). Then you should be able to spin it out with a large flat blade screwdriver. The other option would be to find a steel dowel pin or drill bit shank as close as possible in diameter to the hole in the valve. Then JB Weld the pin in the valve hole to give you something to grab on to with vise grips or weld a little T-handle on the end before the JB weld.

try heating the bung with a torch. there's most likely pipe dope on the threads giving you a bitch of a time. see if you can cook it out.

I was going to drill out the brass and tap new threads then wash the tank out and drain it through the water valve in the bottom. Because of my screwing around there are already some in the tank. thanks for the idea about the T handle I might try it first just because it sounds fun. I tried heating it up with a torch but no avail.
