Alright, everybody ready? Here we go.

I went to the midnight show last night with a PACKED house, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Great flick, but there are drawbacks, and I'll tell ya what they are.

First things first, Whiplash (Ivan Vanko), played by Mickey Rourke. You pretty much cannot go wrong with this guy. Those that are old enough to have seen him in enough stuff before Sin City know that Rourke is a scene-stealer, and that doesn't change in this movie. It's a little hard to pass him off as a Russian, he honestly comes off more like a Mexican gangster, but it's still effective. The character, however, felt like it was way too forced. It was like the screen writers said "We need a backstory for this villain... ummmm.... I know! Put his father's name along side Stark's father's name on the blueprint for the Arc Reactor, and we'll make him some tortured ex-communicated partner out for revenge." And so they did. Whiplash was a badass character, and both versions of the whip-suit were seriously cool.

Dare I speak badly of Scarlett Johannson? While she was eye-candy of the highest caliber (the horrible, unforgivable things I would for 5 minutes with her and a tube of KY), her character SUCKED. Totally uneccesary, and really kind of annoying. She spends most of the movie, well all of it, in extremely form-fitting clothing, rocking that timeless hourglass figure that the pin-up boys in the 50's used to capture so perfectly.

The biggest reason of all for seeing this flick is the same as the last one, Robert Downey Jr. As with last time, his wit and acting style do not disappoint. He was just as hilarious this time around as the last, and just as serious when he needed to be. He is the perfect Tony Stark. And of course, the Iron Man transformations, the War Machine suit, the fights, the effects, it was all picture-perfect comic book brought to life.

If you liked the first one, you'll like this one just as much if not more, you will not be disappointed.

And stick around through the end of the credits.

Watch the first one, you need to see how a lot of things came about, and a lot of the jokes won't make any sense.

Saw the premiere last night. It was "ok" at best. Too long. Lots of action scenes tho.

It suffers from the same problem that a lot of comic/action sequels do, they try to cram too many characters and story into them.

I love Robert Downey jr. I agree that he's the perfect iron man. I loved the movie but didn't really like the "drama" between pepper and Tony, it was kinda annoying.

I did stay for after the credits and I'm stoked!!

Just came back from watching it. Good flick, too much information, Hammer industries, whiplash/crimson dynamo clusterfuck, war machine, shield, avengers, black widow, just too much!!!

I agree that the ending felt rushed, it build up to it and then it's over in the blink of an eye.

                    7/10

edit: what really caught my attention was that super 8 trailer, J.J. is at it again.
