I'm definitely go to have to try that out! It sounds fantastic! I'm actually importing a new bottle of Absinthe from Czech right now, I know that absinthe is now sold here in the US but the type of wormwood used and the amount contained is very weak and similar to that of France. The Eastern European versions are far more potent and a slightly bluer color. It's absolutely incredible, I love the stuff even though it costs an arm an a leg. From the pages of Imbibe! by David Wondrich:
Manhattan
2 dashes Angostura bitters
2 dashes gum syrup (simple syrup made with raw sugar)
1 dash absinthe
2oz rye whiskey
1oz sweet vermouth
1/4t maraschino liqueur*
lemon peel, for garnish
Stir with cracked ice and strain into your fanciest cocktail glass, which you’ve no doubt chilled to perfection. Twist the lemon peel on top and discard.

black and jamaican..
half red stripe, half guiness.. enjoying myself one right now
pour the red stripe in first till halfway, then the guiness to the top over a spoon slowly and theyll stay seperate.
aka, the same as a black and tan(guinness and smithwicks or bass, i go smithwicks..) or half and half.. guiness and harp, my typical pub order..
basically you can do this with any beer, its even great with plain ole budweiser.. blue moon is good with it too.. play around with all sorts of beer and find your favorite... :)
*apparently theres already a name for the half red stripe and guiness.. black and red, I just looked it up. I think it should be the Irish Jamaican, anyone else agree?*Last edited by dgspikes; 08-11-2009, 06:43 PM.Leave a comment:

Had a Manhattan for the first time the other day. Decently strong with a good after taste.
My favorite drink though is Crown and Coke. Recipe is pretty self explanatory.
However a B-52 is also good:
Kahlua
Bailey's
Grand Marnier
Traditionally served in layers in a shot, but mixed in equal parts over ice in a lowball glass is good too.Leave a comment:

Beergaritas, mix:
3 Coronas
1 Can Limeade
Fill limeade can with tequila and mix it in
Not a classy drink but suprisingly tasty and it'll mess you up pretty quickLeave a comment:

1 bottle Sam Adams BL
1 bottle opener
1 glass from freezer:
open bottle with bottle opener, pour into glass whilst building up a good head, drink. mmmmm. repeat as necessary.
I realize it's nowhere near as complicated or elaborate as brother Ken's recipe but simplicity has it's virtues.Leave a comment:
