The Philosophy of Liberty, what do you think? *WARNING* Another political thread!

I just showed this to Kenny Copperwheat and I realized that it's very likely most of you haven't seen it. This animation is the foundation for 98% of my political beliefs, and I can't tell you the other 2%. I'm curious to hear what you guys think, where you disagree, etc.

While I appreciate and agree with the sentiment, it requires full and complete participation by the entire population to work, otherwise, you could not punish those that violate the inherent rights of others.

I don't intend to be rude, but that's a stupid little clip. Is that what they show in school? Or are you into Ron Hubbar's posse?

It reminds me of the "Love vs Fear" video in the Donnie Darko movie. Senseless.

It's amazing how hard it is to sell people on the idea of freedom.

Freedom has different facets, and not everyone sees the same ones. My freedom to play loud music at 3AM becomes your nightmare. My freedom to have a good night sleep becomes your frustration not to party all night long, like you think you are free to do.

If you watched the clip you'd know your example is flawed, but I understand where you're trying to go with it.

Where's the flaw? My freedom might not be your freedom. Simple concept. My freedom to sleep well will stop where your freedom to party starts. And vice versa. Easy.

BS example dude, If I want to play tune's at 3 am at obscene volume that is my freedom to do so. While it may piss off my neighbors in doing so it may lead to consequences for that choice. Weather that be the cops coming due to a complaint, or my neighbors fucking with me to retaliate.

you see there is a thing called common decency and this is why all reasonable people dont do that even though you have the freedom of choice to do so.
