uh it sounds like youre referring to some typo or jargon on your title/registration? if you have a 318is, thats it. "31s" is nothing bmw related that ive ever heard of. possibly a typo of 318is or maybe it stands for something in your state.

how would that be a typo? its not like they only but 31s its all there 318is-31s and 3 series 1.8 liter sport package makes sense

It's just the registries way of shortening the model of the car. First 2 letters and last. Every title does this.
