The guys who tuned and installed my dad's 318is Turbo specialize in B5 S4s. Here is some of their work:

Just the other day they had an RS6 running 22psi. Holy shit they are fast.

I wouldn't say it is difficult. But you need to have all your ducks in a row before beginning. We had a WHOLE A6 2.7 manual for the swap. Trans is the 01e. Had to modify the flywheel a bit (034 can hook you up too).
I can tell you the swap is far from cheap. The whole swap car was 4200. But after selling off the used parts I am sure it will be down around 2500. You'd be looking at 20 or so hours for a shop to do it if I had to guess. I'd say we have about 35 hours in the swap ... factoring out the goofing off, slacking, etc.

              A couple things....

Those wheels and tires are just fucking silly on a car like that...do it right!

              Otherwise eh....
Should have put that motor in a smaller car.

That was actually the downpipes. We were doing a test run before puttin the exhaust shield and exhaust system back on.

As stated the tires are temporary and were free. the wheels are 19x10's and he is not sure those will be staying on the car. He is waiting on another set on the way. Dude hates stretch ... bought 10's because they fit under the arches and with the power he will be putting down in the spring he will need something that wide.
Just so you know the car only weighs 100 lbs more than an S4 and he bought the car with a bad auto for less than he paid for the donor car.

                  I didn't read that part.
You're seeing the effects of me being in a bad mood.
                  Nice swap.

My friends older brother has an 2001 A4 swapped with an S4 turbo motor. Completely unimpressed with the amount of time and effort put into it. Apparently everything down to the ABS sensors were different.

BTW Audi's get no love on r3v.

The transitions in that video make me want to kill babies. Try something different.

Otherwise cool. The wheels/tires are stupid, but you've already addressed that. My best friend had a 4.2 A6 until it got totaled by some lady hitting another car in to him. It was a great car when it wasn't breaking. That fucking car was a money pit. Break, break, break -- that's all those things do.

I'd say your friend would have just been better off buying a S4. I can only imagine how much of PIA that was!!
This A6 is extremely similar to the RS6 so we started looking into a RS6 motor swap. But the Firewall and Trans tunnel are totally different. So I can totally understand how swapping an a4 to s4 would suck balls. Besides stock s4's are boring. they are just too heavy and off balance ... IMO!
As for the Audi love comment ... they get none from me either. The swap is just cool is all.

Video isn't mine. Trying to edit a video on my computer would take 20 years. The video was put together in roughly an hour and he is more of a photographer vs. videographer.

Dude Audi's are always broken. His last one (stage 3 S4) was broke from the get go. We chased a misfire issue for months and NEVER found it. We replaced every vac line, ran all kinds of boost leak tests, swapped plug ranges, sensors, etc and after nearly a grand in parts the damn thing still had misfire issues. I'll stick with my BMW thanks!! LOL.
