Xbox has RROD - Help???

let it cool down. stand it up outside of a storage spot. aka put it in free flowing air.

look on youtube for the penny trick. i have used it before and it works fine.

Dont use a intercooler, it makes the problem worse.

xbox will cover the RROD with or without a warranty. Its there issue that they set aside a few mil for.

Ive been doing some research online on how to fix an xbox that will not boot up due to the Red Ring of Death. Of course when I google search, I get 50 bajillion bullshit links that all just want to sell me something. I'm not on any good gamers forums, or xbox forums, or no nerdy shit like that. Anyone out there fixed theirs?
From what I've read and understand, its due to heat in or around the central processing unit. Also heard that reseating the CPU with new thermal compound works as well.
Anyone have any good links, or resource info for me? I'm about to tear this bitch down here at work and see what if I can figure it out. Cant take not having an xbox any longer.....

Ps - I'm a Microsoft guy with certs yada yada, so nerd talk is allowed. I'll understand what's going on.

I basically taped up every single hole possible, to the point where its silent its so quiet. Then wrapped it up in paper, and put it in a computer bag. For 25 minutes.

i have firsthand experience with the towel trick. it has worked every time. one friend eventually sent his in 2 weeks later when the trick no longer worked, another friend only had to do the towel trick once and it is still working.

Mine has had the washe deal done to it, it lasted a year then konked out. Xbox will not take mine back due to it being a usedmodel I bought at EBgames. IE it isn't registered under my name. I am now to the point of no startup at all w/o the RROD, it worked for a bit if I tried the overheating trick, now it's just fooked.

Shit dude that sucks. Get on craigslist and find one with the RROD and just fix it. Can usually find them for really cheap. Find the dude sellin one that sounds the stupidest aka the easy fix RROD's.
I'm sure u knew that already though.
