lolz well I tried it too and it works. Now I get at least the green light and the 360 logo again. I don't have any games and a harddrive (got it for free) so I've been waiting to make sure it at least turned on. With the penny trick it would stay on for 30 mins and I left it on for 45 without games running and it was fine before I shut it off. Pics:

Its basically the towel trick, but with tape and a laptop case...

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.

Yeah, word to the wise though. Be sure you remember you are doing the towel trick. A friend and I wrapped the towel around it, turned it on, forgot about it, and left. We came back hours later. Needless to say, It was fried.

And yeah, I updated r3v from my blackberry, hooked it up, and it worked. Fired up call of duty, saw it was a success and immediately celebrated with a massive bong rip. Needless to say I forgot :D
                But otherwise it works fine.

At this point, if I can get 3 towel tricks out of my xbox, ill be happy. Just need it to work a couple more months. Target had the regular ones for like 150!

The people at microsoft are pretty nice. Mine was well outside of the warrenty by at least a year and they still did the repair for free. I didnt pay a cent.
