Sammy "the bull" Gravato (sp) had an Italian food place right up the street from my house called "Uncle Sal's" before he went back to jail for x trafficing. i met him there a few times seemed like a nice guy, but you could tell he was skeeezy though.
Joe Bananno Jr. had a house up the street from my parents i guess. my Dad used to point out his car.

His name is Lenny Strollo. I can't find any good links that really explain him. He was a local boss around here from the Pittsburgh crime family. He actually just got out last year and is somewhere in the witness protection program. In the late '90's, a huge FBI sting was set up and they gave him a plea deal where he only did about 8 years and his family got to keep a lot of his personal properties. He snitched out La Cosa Nostra members from top to bottom. I'd imagine there's a HUGE price on his head right now.
The mob controls everything here in Youngstown. We're not only halfway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh, but halfway between NYC and Chicago, so this area has been a power struggle between organized crime groups for well over a century. Even when the big FBI sting was going on in the 90's, they found out that some of there own agents were on the payroll. Our longtime Representative Jim Traficant just got out of prison a few weeks ago for taking bribes. Many other elected officials are still in jail right now for corruption.
