    Windows Mobil or Android OS?

I'm more of the desktop/laptop hardware software geek so I'm looking for advice in the mobile phone department. My LG Voyager finally shit the bed and its time for my upgrade. I've been looking at the HTC Touch Pro 2 and the Motorola Droid that is set to come out this Friday. Does anybody have anything great to say about Windows Mobile or Android? I figure many of you can give some insight. I'm more a media whore so I like the Droid but I don't want to sacrifice what looks like a more universal phone that the HTC Touch Pro 2 is. From what I heard Windows Mobile 6 with the HTC Touch screen isn't as great as it could be. I would mainly be using the phone for mobile apps and texting.

I'll go with whichever, but I'd like some opinoins on the operating systems themselves.

    Thanks R3V.

Edit: I bought the Droid. I couldn't be happier with Android.

Stuck with Verizon. Why? I'm broke a broke college kid and my parents don't mind paying for the bill (only thing they pay for so I'm sticking with it) and I need to have a physical QWERTY keyboard. I can't stand not having actual buttons to shoot off a text message.

I have the samsung omnia. Cool idea, poor execution. (Iphone knockoff. better camera, fast(ish) internet, but the interface and screen sucks. Prolly going with something different when my plan runs out.

i'd go for the droid if you are stuck with vzw. read some reviews (like on engadget or cnet) and decide for yourself.

I used to have the Sprint HTC Touch with WM6 and was not impressed.

I have a Touch Pro on sprint (just the original) and have had Windows Mobil on three phones so far. The Driod looks pretty cool, but the real question that I would have would be what kind of community support it would have (custom roms, custom software.) I am not running anything near a stock rom on my phone and I love the way it works currently. If I get bored I just flash a new rom. Both look to be sick phones. I want to upgrade my phone soon to, but I will be going TP2. Is the TP2 even out on VZW yet?

blackberry Storm2 or bust. it's just coming out this week IIRC. Get the two for one, and resell the second one like Devonjordan did last season with the storm.

Coming from someone who has had an iPhone, a Blackberry 8300, a blackberry storm, an lg voyager, played with a pre, and is about to buy a droid.

I'd say get the droid. The storm is nice but ... well.. its still a blackberry.

Droid is ahead of the curve, in hardware, in software, everything. It's the only thing even close to on par with an iphone right now. Just do it. How can you say no to full flash 10.0 support on a mobile device?

+10000, Having worked for Sprint and owned the Touch Pro2, Touch Pro, Palm Pre and Palm Pro 8500, I will tell you right now the Droid is going to be a better phone over the Touch Pro2, I love the power and design of the Touch Pro2 over any other phone but Windows Mobile 6.1 is a pain in the ass and slow as shit, even on my 4G data network! (Yes Sprint has 4G, Verizon and ATT can suck it!) The Touch Pro2 has an excellent battery, the Android based ones have a long, efficient life as well. Android OS has more Apps and Open Source programs available than WM6 and it's a solidly integrated system. I can guarantee that the Droid will have bugs but updates should be fine.

I'm with you I much prefer a physical keyboard, that's why I'm going with the Samsung Moment, both the Moment and the Droid have a pretty generic design which sucks but you'll like the phone much better.
