Not much yet in the news, but around 13 were killed and 35 wounded on a military base in Fort Hood, texas. The attacker was a soldier and was taken down. Two others were arrested.

Every hour that passes, they find new persons that got hit.
50 is a round number.
Dead, lightly wounded, heavily wounded. It remains a casualty. You don't need to be dead to be accounted for.

The shooting has happened only a few hours ago and info is coming in bit by bit.

Please Maluco, don't focus on the small details, look at the big picture...

Police fatally shot the shooter, and have identified him as Army Major Malik Madal Hassan. The Associated Press reports Major Hassan was a mental health professional on base.

there was more than one shooter according to most reports.. details still fuzzy on the role of the 2 suspects in custody.

MPs and gate guards are about the only people who are in possession of firearms/ammo on-post (unless going to a range to shoot, and there are procedures for that). anyone else who has a handgun/rifle is by definition "bad guy".

that makes more sense. but still that 25 hits each meaning 25+ fired rounds, if it was 50/50. im not military but seems like this should never have happened nun-the-less get this far. i can only be in shock and pray for the families

naturally. but like i said... only people who have them are the MPs and gate guards, so someone who has one and isn't supposed to could probably get through a few magazines before an armed response shows up.
