Needing to do a roadtrip and need your guys' help

So the background is that we're done with midterms and school for right now at least. So naturally a random road trip is in order. We probably got 3-5 days to work with and would be willing to drive for a day, one way.

We just want to experience something beautiful/epic/fun/different for a couple of days and then come back to reality. So I'm asking you guys if you know of any places (can be either a city or national park etc.) that would be simply be 'awesome' to go to thats within reach, input would be appreciated!

    Grand Canyon or Yellowstone.

grand canyon is doable but there isn't much around there. if you want to get there in one day, i'd recommend Utah. the national parks there are pretty incredible, and there are several. yellowstone is a lot farther away and would take a lot more driving, but is definitely a must see for any human.

Run up the 101 as far as you can go. Its an amazing road. And you might make it up to the PNW, and get to experience some of the awesome roads up here.

            I suppose you're right.

How about Lake Tahoe then. You could drive up the 1 which, although I'm sure you've driven it, is beautiful. Then hit up Tahoe and Yosemite.

If I had an e30 and if she liked driving as much as we all do then yes. But the mode of transportation is a for escort, an old ford escort.

...Rental car. :p I rented a G37 to get up to Fresno for the GREs, made an otherwise burdensome trip bearable.

We both been up the one till monterey, so thats as far as my knowledge goes about that.

And the rental car is out of the question. We won't need more costs like that on top of gas and potentially some place to stay.

Red Rock Canyon, Nevada. Rock climbing, hiking, biking. Wild animals and nature. Theres a replica ghost town near by and if things get boring, the Vegas Strip is less than half an hour away.

Otherwise San Francisco would be a cool trip, and since it is just for a few days you wont spend so much money.

It's probably too late in the year for Yellowstone to be a very good option, especially with only a few days to work with.

northern new mexico - lots of beautiful roads, sparsely populated, epic scenery.
