i KNOW that what is going on over there at this point has little to do with preserving our freedoms and there are many underlying causes. you CAN NOT fault or crap on the soldiers or what they are doing. would you be willing to take their place?seien Sie größer, als Sie erscheinen

I have nothing but respect for our fallen soldiers but it has nothing to do with fighting for freedom that many people seem to respect them for. The respect I have for the soldiers is directed at the fact that they have families and friends in pain because they are gone and hopes and dreams that will never come to fruition all because some corporate pig thought that he could make money by sending them to die.Comment

If you dont respect the mission or what they are doing, then you dont respect them.
You might as well spit on their graves and throw shit at them when they get home form a TOD.
You really take being here in the USA and all the opportunity and freedoms afforded you because of all the men and women that chose to serve and protect your worthless ass.

The big flaw with your argument is that you assume any sort of military action that this country takes is for the cause of freedom. The vast majority have been fought for other, selfish reasons.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

i do agree with you there to an extent. there are many reasons that we have gone to war, not EXCLUSIVELY FOR FREEDOM, that can't be denied.
these people have gone into the military and are doing their duty for the country. if you have to find fault in what they are doing, don't point blame or crap on them for doing it.
if you throw shit, throw it in another direction, not at the simple soldier.Last edited by der affe; 11-15-2009, 09:45 PM.seien Sie größer, als Sie erscheinen

Again, I don't fault the soldier. I want nothing more than for our soldiers to come home safe to their families and live long lives. The unfortunate part is that many don't come home safe and at some point you have to ask whether it was worth it or not.i do agree with you there to an extent. there are many reasons that we have gone to war, not EXCLUSIVELY FOR FREEDOM, that can't be denied.

I simply cannot stand the sheepish attitude that so many people have towards our military conflicts. People seem to think that every war we fight is in the name of freedom and therefore it is alright to send our soldiers because they are protecting us. They also think that if you don't support the war you are insulting America and the soldiers. It is really ridiculous.
The truth is, we aren't anymore safe or free now than before we invaded Iraq or before we lost in Vietnam or before we stopped shooting in Korea. In fact, we would be better off if we hadn't gotten involved in these conflicts. They cost countless lives and trillions of dollars and what was it all for? I can't think of any good reasons.Comment

I disagree. Especially when two people dear to me have been to Iraq for several tours and been under fire many times. They don't respect their mission! To them, it's a series of clusterfucks engineered by fobbers that are just trying to please the planners in DC and advance up the ladder without getting killed.
I respect my friends, but not those that send them into harms way with little regard for the safety and welfare of the people who are really hanging it out there. Same goes for the administrators at the VA that made my buddy's lives hell when they got back.
My friends say they are not unique in their views and they do not want people back home to accept the mission blindly. They want accountability when the shit hits the fan and they haven't seen much of it from DC in the last 8 years.Comment
