Bill would allot parking spaces for eco-friendly cars

BOSTON -- A new proposal over parking is fueling controversy in the Bay State.

A state senator wants to create parking specifically for eco-friendly "green" vehicles.

State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz is sponsoring a bill that is pushing to restrict certain parking areas in Boston for cars identified as low-emission, ultra-low, or zero-emission vehicles.

However, this plan is not in the fast lane for success just yet. Massachusetts residents have mixed feelings regarding the bill.

"I'm not a big fan of the hybrid car. If there's a spot it should be first come, first serve," said a Boston man.

Others think it's a great idea.

"Everyone should go green-friendly. Why not?" said a local woman.

The idea is to encourage people across the Bay State to make their cars green-friendly so they will not only save on gas but also get better parking spots.

It is already happening in some places. Logan Airport has already allocated 100 spots for eco-friendly cars.

The bill would require hybrid and other low-emissions vehicles to bear a distinctive plate in order to guarantee them access to preferred parking. Legislation also calls for violators to be fined between $15 and $50. Violators could also be towed.

Different with parking spots because of the amount of space they take up. I think smart cars are worthless in 90% of the US except for downtown east coast cities. They were built when it was horse and buggie. They make sense there and you can fit two in a single stall.

Yes I know, but my point was they have 3 million sub compact only and 4 that will fit a normal size car or full size truck or suv.

I like it when i pull into a spot far out in the lot cause i dont want to ride around all day plus my legs do work still. And i see some numbnuts keep riding around looking for a spot up close when I done walked by them and heading into the store.

First open spot I see, I take. I can't stand the people who drive around for 30min to find a parking space. Even more than that, I hate the fucks who wait for people to leave. They are similar to stalkers. They see you exit an establishment, look for keys or bags in hand, follow you through the parking lot, then wait 5 min for you to get situated and leave. When this happens, I usually lead them on a wild goose chase for awhile, weaving between rows of cars.

I saw this on the news last night. So fucking stupid. I hate the people that drive hybrids around and think that they are the shit because they are there to help the environment. Hybrids are really not that much better than a regular car and people are too stupid to see that.

I was talking to a guy about hybrids and he told me that they are worse for the roads because since they buy less gas and can go farther on one tank. The towns and cities loose money to fix roads and whatnot because they loose money from the gas taxes.

That episode of South Park seems so fitting in this situation right now lol.

When I had a follower I used to get in my car, back up and straighten out my parking job, then go back in the store. People get unreasonably angry about this.
