                              this is no way a reflection of VW owners, I own one and I would never even half way think about doing this to my car. I know alot of VW owners who are great guys and know alot about cars, its people like this that give us the awesome reputation.

                                Done it a few times, nuts work well because you can hit the inside and outside. I've done it with sockets too, but that wouldn't have worked in this case. He could have also used a bolt in this case, inserting the threaded part into where the key would have gone.
