I tried to talk the wife into letting me fry ours. She said no, she's pregnant and anything fried sounds bad to her... FML.

But I've been preparing mine for a day, using some new tricks. Hopefully its good, but I'm totally jealous of OP.

        put turkey into pot,

Fill with water till turkey is covered,

        remove turkey,

        measure to the water line,

dump water and dry out pot,

add oil till its at the same measurement as the water was with out the turkey,

Never over flow the frying pot becuase you have just the right amount of oil every time.

Also never put a frozen turkey in there.

bet you will do it my way from now on huh. and dammit the oil should be hot before you add the turkey.

Also never do it on the deck a or porch, always on the drive way or lawn or something that wont burn easy

After the oil cools, run the used Peanut Oil thru a strainer/filter several times and you can reuse it for another turkey or for frying other stuff.

Keep in mind that the used oil isn't as efficient and that it will take longer to fry another bird of the similar size.

You can filter it, store it and fry up another bird for Christmas.

I had Thanksgiving dinner with family today and I'm having a bunch of people over tomorrow to fry a 15 pounder.

Frying turkeys is also a good reason to start hitting the beers early too. (Not as is if R3Vers reallly need a reason for that!) :D
