Wow, they jacked up the prices like crazy after that. We just get our 5 gallon bottles refilled at some shop and we use that for cooking and drinking.

Whole foods has 1 gallon of drinking water for like 11 dollars.

glad I dont live in the westside then :)

In all seriousness though, it seems that it's not much of a risk. They're saying if anything, its a very mild strain that might give you a stomach ache.

And bottled water still sucks ass. Roughly 1000% to 2000% more expensive for shit that is usually bottled right out of, guess where, a city tap. Not to mention the huge environmental cost. Paying for bottled water is like paying for bottled air; you're just too retarded to realize you're getting ripped off.

As a guy that made a living for 10 years building and working on city water systems, I will not ever ever drink, cook, or wash out a wound with city water. If you see the black sludge and barnacles and odd colored shit thats in your water mains, you would not either.

No thanks I will stick with my well water when at home and bottled when on the road working.

Edit: Corvalis. I know where Coke Cola get the bulk or their Disani for the upper mid west. A very clean Artesian well in southern Jackson County MI, then is taken by the truck load to be filtered and and bottled. So no not outta a city water tap.

There are a few things in life you should not have to pay for. I pay .00376 cents a gallon for my water and it's delicious.

my grandparents house has its own lake and a few different wells, only problem they have is water pressure issues now and then but nothing huge. as for using city water, i think i will. i would rather pay $.005 per gallon then $11. oh and we have this great invention called a stove, which lets me boil my water if I want it extra clean. but i generally don't care since the city water here comes from a spring and is then filtered before going into the pipes, also my mom goes to the sams club and buys a ton of bottled water for a decent price so i'll drink that.

its in the pipes that is the problem where all the carp in comes from. Old homes in old neighborhoods in may places in this country still have lead pipe from the main to the house, many old water mains in this country were lead joint water main and are still in service, I have personally dug up these mains (to fix leaks not always to replace them) and replaced 1000's of feet of lead services. (I also have dug up wood water main that was 112 yeas old)

Boiling is fine, for bacteria and parasites, but not so good for heavy metals and trace inorganic toxins. Yes there are trace amounts of all these in all water supplies no matter the origin. But the water systems of any city are shity, why do you think there is from 2ppm to 25ppm of chlorine in all city water. Some places have gone to just ozone treament and thats better but it dose nothing for after the water enters the system and sit there for days or weeks as it moves through the system.

Ever wonder why the city flushes hydrants 4-6 times a year?????? If you only knew you would rethink drinking city water on a regular basis

my house is old. old enough that it didn't have running water for most of its life thus far. the pipes leading to the house are copper and most of the pipes we have seen are copper. in fact where my kitchen and bathroom are now where not even there untill about 15 years ago(add on) im not sure about the city pipes but I believe that they got rid of the lead pipes a long time ago. I live in the heart of horse country and many farms get thier water from the city sources and heavy metal in the water would cause a huge issue for the horses helth. I'm almost sure that the city could care less about people, but if horses start dieing/getting sick from water, then farms move and the city goes broke so I believe that they would try to keep heavy metals and the likes out of the water. but you have inspired me to look into it a bit more.
