$20 Dollar Bill refused

I work with money all day in at a major grocery chains cash office. We don't like to take stuff older then 1950 because there is no way for us to prove that it is real. There has been a huge flux of fake bills with dates before this time. This is for several reasons. A currency pen will say it's fake because the paper used was different then the stuff we use now, there is no security strip, and there is no watermark.

I've had to turn down suspicious bills like yours numerous times. It's nothing against you, the business is just looking out for it's self.

Just keep the bill or take it to your bank and have them switch you.

I know it's leagal to pay in pennies, and they have to accept it. I guess there is some feeral law that says that all "legal tender" has to be accepted or something.
