HeroRat, protector of those whom live near landmines.

Unexploded landmines still remain a huge problem the world over. What is more, landmine clearance is an expensive business. One man has found a potential solution, however. All hail the HeroRAT.

It may seem like an unlikely combination. Giant pouched rats are not what spring to mind immediately when conversation turns to the global issue of unexploded landmines. However, Bart Weegens, from Belgium has found a low-technology answer to the continuing issue of unexploded mines. A childhood interest in the animals came to mind when he was musing over possible solutions and this led to an extraordinary development.

Wow. That looks almost like a hoax, it's so impressive.

At first I thought they just let a bunch of rats out over a mine field and used them to explode all the mines. Kind of like the part with the bunnies in Full Throttle:

So, rats don't get blown. Right?

During WWII, Germans were training dogs carrying explosives to lay under tanks before being detonated... Not cool.

Is there any way to donate to this campaign. I feel with the holidays being around the corner every culture likes to practice some sort of charity and this is one thing that would be super cool to do. I feel as if all of R3V got together and donated something like 1$ (which I am sure everyone can afford being that we all drive bmw's and use computers) (I am a broke student too but what goes around comes around remember) we could raise a decent amount of money and maybe save some lives. I would be willing to organize this charity event and do some tzedakah (hebrew for justice) this holiday season! would anyone be willing to participate in this?

Keep your money. Instead, apply pressure on your government not to produce, sell and deploy landmines.
