TRAGEDY: Irish firefighters contain blaze at Guinness factory in Dublin

a very sad day for beer drinkers!

A fire broke out at the Guinness factory in Dublin shortly after noon local time. Over nine fire brigades and three rigs with aerial ladder platforms were able to contain the blaze before it spread to the ammonia plant at the site.

An official from Guinness was able to confirm that no one was hurt in the incident.

“There were no injuries to any personnel and the fire has been extinguished,” the spokeswoman said.

“An internal investigation is under way to find out exactly what the cause of the accident was.”

The fire broke out near the Victoria Quay entry to the factory, and locals in the area are being advised to keep their windows closed due to the amount of smoke in the air.

The blaze is believed to have started when felt on a roof that was being repaired by workmen caught on fire.

Meh, their beer sucks. Glad everyone is ok, but I wouldn't mind if they closed the doors on that place.

Let me guess, Budweiser of Miller Lite for you?? Sure Murphy's is better but Guiness is still a great stout and draught.

Guinness is a shit Irish Dry Stout, in cans, bottles, or on tap. It is an entry-level beer that is ideal for lording over other people that you drink Guinness, but in reality, I'd rather drink an adjunct macro and suffer the slings and arrows of the beer shits in the morning. It is even more highly attenuated than other dry stouts, and is wholly unsatisfying.

I would use this as a post-waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles eating gargle to fend off the possibility of throat AIDS.

It looks like it didn't work too well last time... How's the throat now? Are you sure your throat hasn't been pounded by Blunt's appendice?

No, Mr. blunt's insults as of late have been uninspiring and wan, sort of like his sexual prowess. I guess building a parts empire from the ground up takes a lot out of a man. Either that or he's just holed up in his kitchen, trying to perfect a biscotti recipe and has no time for insulting teenagers on r3vlimited.

Damn. He's missing all the fun.

Seriously, your little throaty adventure happened to one of my good friend, about 30 years ago.

Quit being the typical wannabe-beer-elitest Guinness drinkers that think your a "beer guy" for drinking it. Let me guess you like futball and watch the Red Sox with all your "authentic" Irish buddies too?

I'm from the northwest, which makes me a hop-head by default. I love IPAs with Pliney the Elder being my current favorite. Beyond IPAs, my favorite all-time beer is Manny's Pale Ale, and when it comes to the darker variety I like Georgetown Brewery's 9lb Porter or Stone's Arrogant Bastard.

Maybe Guinness will experience a shortage and you'll step outside your box and try a beer with some real flavor.
