I have never had a problem with the e46 hoses. Everything works as planned. You don't find yourself habitually taking a tap and heli-coil kit out of your toolbox if you work on BMW's, but it is apparent that these tools are a necessity in the American world.
As you read more and more about american cars, its amazing how shitty they are.
I remember having to drain a transmission on a late 90's grand am. I was looking all over for the drain plug, when I realized there wasnt one. You are supposed to pull all the bolts out, and let the fluid drop all over the place.

Are the worst in the industry.
We as BMW owners are lucky to rarely have to deal with such shoddy engineering such as these abortions of automobile design.
While probably a good idea at first, when they reach 100k miles, they tend to shatter in your hands, causing you to break out the screw extractor, tap, and occasionally a heli-coil kit. If BMW came up with a design such as this, they wouldnt spec steel as the component.
